The Emperor Machine begins a new chapter with this double-headed thriller, in some ways a manifest statement of the sordid pleasures that lie in wait for the devoted disconauts of the world in 2008.
Upon hearing the relentless throbbing of "Slap On" the listener will immediately know to what we refer. This is a polyrhythmic affair that deals in endless climax; synths relentlessly building before throwing the listener sideways into a vortex of stylish analogue shapes. On the flipside "Gang Bang" will soothe and relieve after such orgiastic fury. A smooth blend of discofied punk-funk informs the warm bass and drums that drive this groove; analogical chatter gradually swarming and swelling, joined by hi hats, cowbells and shifting melodies until the music has fully taken possession of the listener’s pelvis, leaving the mind free to relax and watch the club melt. |
